About

AgoyIt AB is a fintech startup in the accounting sector, challenging the large enterprise software corporations in the nordic countries. AgoyIt went from idea to mvp and received funding from investors like; Johan Berg (ex CEO of Fortnox), Markus Jacobson (founder of the IT-company IStone) amongst others. I was the first employee together with a developer as a consultant, and took it from idea to a product on the market that later got purchased by Fortnox for 30 M SEK.

Challenge

As the Lead UX & UI Designer for Agoy, my primary responsibility was to ensure that the platform was intuitive, user-friendly, and fully aligned with the needs of its target audience. The platform was designed to fill a significant gap within the industry by offering a cloud-based solution, and it was crucial that the user experience was seamless and straightforward. My role extended beyond just creating the interface—I was also tasked with developing the overall visual identity of the company, ensuring consistency across all customer touchpoints. The complexity of the project required not only a deep understanding of the users’ needs but also the ability to translate those needs into a coherent, easily navigable platform.

Solution

To tackle this challenge, I employed the “Double Diamond” design process, a proven methodology that allowed me to iterate and refine concepts continuously. This approach was particularly effective in ensuring that every feature aligned with the end users’ expectations and the overall product goals. I began by conducting extensive qualitative research, engaging with Agoy’s target audience to gain a comprehensive understanding of their workflows, pain points, and preferences. High-fidelity user testing played a crucial role in familiarizing myself with the nuances of their work processes, helping me to craft a product that truly met their needs.

I led ideation sessions with Agoy's stakeholders, using "How might we?" questions to drive the brainstorming process. These sessions were instrumental in identifying potential problems and uncovering opportunities for improvement. Through collaboration with the client, we generated a range of ideas, refining them through several iterations. This approach allowed us to create solutions that were both innovative and practical, grounded in the real-world demands of the users.

Throughout the project, I maintained detailed requirement documents and task tickets in Jira. This ensured clear communication and alignment across the entire development team, which was distributed globally. These well-structured documents eased the workload and facilitated a smooth collaboration between design and development, minimizing potential miscommunications and delays.

To ensure visual and functional consistency across the platform, I created a comprehensive design guide and design library. This served as a reference for both developers and stakeholders, ensuring that everyone involved in the project remained aligned with the visual direction, even as iterations occurred. This library also helped in maintaining a cohesive look and feel as new features were added or revised.

One of the key improvements I implemented at the start of the project was transforming Agoy's communication and project management approach. I noticed that the previous communication methods were causing misunderstandings and inefficiencies, so I introduced agile workflows using the SCRUM methodology. This shift had a profound impact on the team's productivity, streamlining communication and making the development process more efficient.

Beyond my role in the UX/UI design of the platform, I also supported Agoy's PR team by creating various visual assets, including videos, animations, and posters. These materials played a key role in the company’s external communications, helping to promote the platform and enhance the brand's public image.

By combining a user-focused design approach with iterative development and agile project management, I was able to deliver a platform that was both visually compelling and highly functional, ensuring that Agoy's platform met its users’ needs while remaining adaptable and scalable for future growth.
